My New Love For Herbal Black Tea Hair Rinses! TEA TIME!!!

I know its late but i want to wish you all a Happy New Year! Can you believe that it is 2015 already??? I know i cant, This year has been a up and down year for my hair to say the least especially during this cold and dry weather. As you i explained in a previous post that i did my second big chop and colored my hair for the first time back this past fall and i have been suffering dryness + trying to get to know my again, well besides that i also was experiencing lots and lots of shedding due to the weather getting colder. Every time i turned around i would find my hair everywhere from my pillow case to my computer desk area, not tons of it but enough to catch my attention that i am not moisturizing correctly or maybe i just need to take care of myself internally more because this hair shedding is for the birds!

So i was racking my brain and did some research and one of the many things i ran across was about herbal tea rinses that could not only decrease the shedding but it can help with shine and over all health. I went ahead and just tried what i already had in my kitchen, first i started with green tea, then chamomile but i noticed that out of all the teas; the black tea offered the best results when it came to how it felt and after using for about 2-3 weeks i noticed that the shedding was extremely less and it just felt like it was stronger.  The only downside to it was that black tea can darken the hair and i learned this later on after using it so the color i got done is a little darker now but is still noticeable and looking good to me… so im on the fence now about if i should still use it or what because i love my color in my hair but the benefits from this rinse is to good to let go lol. Unfortunately i do not have pictures of the shedding process but i will encourage you to see for yourself and give it a try,Its completely natural and safe- what can it hurt right?

This is the tea that i have been using so far.

Here are some of the benefits you can get from black tea rinses:

  1. Either boil 8 oz of water in a small saucepan on the stove or just do what i do and warm up 8oz of water in mug, measuring cup or microwave safe cup on 1-2 minutes max.
  2. Then just let the black tea back steep in the water for about 5 mins until it darkens, or you can just let the tea bag sit in the water until it cools off.
  3. After you are done cleansing you hair completely then all you have to do is pour this allover your hair and scalp. You can also put this in a spray bottle and apply it to the hair that way as well. Do not rinse out.

I do hope you give this a try, it did amazing things for my hair and as of now it is a true staple in my regimen. However,i do plan on trying a little something different on my deep conditioning days by adding honey to the black tea rinse, let it sit for like 15 mins, rinse then apply my deep conditioner and go from there adding even more benefits to my routine.
